The past few weeks have been memorable for Colchester United new boy Kemal Izzet.

First he had a Football League debut to celebrate and now, just three games later, he's scored a first League goal.

"Now I've opened my account I hope it's the first of many," he said.

"I thought I was offside at first when Barry (Conlon) slipped a super ball through to me. But I hit a great left-foot shot across the keeper and was very glad to see it go in off the far post.

"After the last time when the Luton keeper somehow turned a shot of mine against a post it was a great relief to see this one hit the net."

Izzet's goal earned the U's a vital point and the youngster said: "We needed three really, but we've got to be happy with a point because we didn't play well overall.

"But good spirit from the lads saw us through in the end. Peterborough played to their strengths. They had some pacy players up front and scored a couple of great goals.

"We must now go to Northampton on Saturday and hopefully take three points there."
