New signing Kemal Izzet ensured Colchester took at least a point from their home encounter with Peterborough by scoring his first goal for the U's.
Barry Fry's team made the early break through in the Division Two clash with a goal on 11 minutes through Jason Lee.
But the U's were put back on track before the end of the first half thanks to Micky Stockwell's 10th strike of the season.
The Posh were not to be deterred and went 2-1 up in the second half with a goal from David Oldfield.
It was left to Izzet to salvage a point with a goal on 77 minutes.
