Clean up our district!

That's the plea from residents in Tendring who are calling for major efforts to improve the environment.

From Frating to Frinton, they have complained about the state of roads, footpaths and grass verges.

And many long-standing residents believe conditions are the worst they have ever been.

Tendring district and Essex county councillor Roy Smith recently asked people to get in touch with him with their complaints about rubbish and he has been amazed at the response.

"Within days the letters were pouring in from all over Tendring," he said.

"People are obviously not very happy with the state of tidiness around the district and are also worried about what image it presents to visitors.

"Many are from people who have lived in the district for 30 or 40 years and feel it is in the worst state ever."

Mr Smith said that he would take up the matters raised with Essex County Council and Tendring Council for investigation.

"People can also help by not dropping litter themselves," he added.
