A service of remembrance is to be held for parents in Tendring who have lost a baby.

Hospital chaplains have organised the service at St James' Church, Wash Lane, Clacton, on Tuesday at 7.30pm.

Afterwards there will be coffee and the chance to talk to members of the chaplaincy team from Essex Rivers Healthcare Trust.

The service will be led by Canon Richard Smith, the Trust's senior chaplain, whose mother gave birth to a stillborn daughter.

He said: "To lose a child as a result of a miscarriage, stillbirth, or shortly after the baby is born, is one of the most difficult bereavements of all, as much for fathers as for mothers."

The team has held annual memorial services in Clacton since 1999.
