A Colchester car park forced to close for six days after travellers moved on to the site has today (Thursday) reopened.

Three hundred town-centre workers rely on the car park at Sheepen Place, and its enforced closure has put pressure on parking space across the rest of Colchester.

The travellers arrived at the site last Thursday and more continued to arrive over the Easter weekend.

Hundreds of pounds in revenue as been lost by the Green Car Parking Company, which leases the site from landowners Bermac Properties.

Richard Green, managing director of the company, immediately put the legal wheels in motion to have the travellers evicted from the site and today announced the travellers had moved on and the car park was again open for business.
