Repeated attacks on a children's playground on Canvey are costing the taxpayer thousands of pounds.
Vandals have struck repeatedly at the playground behind the Paddocks on Canvey.
Glass has been thrown in the sandpit and paddling pool and vandals have tried to break through the metal gates.
Chris Moran, client services manager at Castle Point Council, said: "Over the last four months the Paddocks playground has suffered from several attacks from vandals.
"I cannot understand the mentality of the people behind these attacks on a site which is for small children. The council is working with the police to monitor the site."
