Basildon United are going back home for tomorrow's (Saturday's) Schweppes Essex Senior League clash with leaders Brentwood.

The new towners had their Gardiners Close ground closed last week by League boss Robert Errington due to a "health and safety issue" in the dressing rooms area.

However, after a week of frenzied activity, Errington made a return visit last night and was happy to report a "back in business" message.

He said: "All credit to the club - and particularly manager Stevie Wheeler.

He has masterminded doing the work that was causing concern in the dressing room section and all the problems in that area have been attended to.

"The club have also started carrying out work in other parts of the ground which they will need to do to satisfy the Essex FA that they should keep their senior status at a meeting on May 17.

"It has obviously taken a huge amount of effort on the part of Stevie and his willing band of helpers and the club now need to carry on the good work."
