Essex are looking to take some quick wickets this afternoon against Northamptonshire at Chelmsford's County Ground.

Essex, batting first, finished yesterday (Wednesday) on 154-6 but were dismissed before lunch today for 206.

In reply Northamptonshire are 19 without loss.

The home side lost Paul Pritchard for just eight runs and England captain Nasser Hussain for just 15, but Robinson and Stuart Law began a recovery that saw the sides leave the field at lunch with the Essex innings at 96-2.

A half-century from Darren Robinson put Essex back on track but he fell for 61and only Stuart Law, with 26, came close to matching his resistance.

Captain Ronnie Irani departed for just eight runs, and Barry Hyam was run out with two runs to his name.

While Ricky Anderson went for just two runs and Tim Mason was out for a duck.
