The company spearheading an Essex version of the timeless game Monopoly has been inundated with requests by firms keen to take squares on the board.

The nation's obsession with Essex man and woman is expected to rocket sales of the game past the 100,000 mark when it is released in time for Christmas, promoters said.

Graham Barnes, of GBcom, said following reports in the Evening Gazette and national papers, many businesses and organisations had sought to get involved.

The response has been so great that every square on the board has already been occupied.

The Gazette itself will be found on the Community Chest square on the board, he revealed.

Mark Marriot, of Winning Moves, the company which is marketing the game for manufacturer Hasbro, expects it to go on sale in October.
