Braintree Aki-Budo Kai held its third Annual Budo Course last weekend at The Four Seasons in Braintree.

The event was a multi-discipline course and well supported with martial artists travelling from as far afield as Glasgow to receive top grade instruction in Aikido, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Aiki-Jutsu, Self Defence, Kendo, Iaido, Karate and Kobudo.

BABK chairman Mark Fradgley said: "This year's course has been the best yet. "We have an excellent venue and the course was booked to capacity on both days.

"The atmosphere on the mats was superb and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.

"We did have a few last minute problems but thanks to the generosity of Mayland Judo Club and Fastrack Vehicle Hire in Braintree we were able to host an excellent course."

This year was extra special with Howie (formerly known as "The Unworthy One") Taylor passing his grading for a first Dan black belt and Ian (Gator) Stewart gaining his sixth Dan.
