New signings Tommy Miller and Pablo Counago scored on their Ipswich Town debuts on Wednesday night as the Blues crushed Tampere United 4-2.

The pre-season friendly - the first of three matches Town play on their tour of Finland and Estonia - also reaped goals for Marcus Stewart and Martijn Reuser.

But it was strikes by debutante pair Miller and Counago which started and finished the scoring in front of a crowd of around 5,000.

Miller, who joined up with his new team-mates yesterday after finalising his move to Portman Road from Hartlepool on Monday, netted the pick of the goals, a long-range effort four minutes from time.

Counago broke the deadlock in the eighth minute, heading home a cross from Reuser.

Stewart was then on target seven minutes later before Tampere hit back with two goals, only for Reuser to stroke home a penalty and put his side the driving seat at half-time.

There was no place in the starting line-up for goalkeeper Andy Marshall - signed as a replacement for Richard Wright - as Ipswich boss George Burley favoured Keith Branagan.

Miller was introduced as a half-time substitute for Nabil Abidallah while Counago was replaced by Richard Naylor.

Former Academy under-17 player Darren Bent, who signed a professional contract with the Blues earlier in the summer, took Reuser's place for the last 20 minutes.
