Three policemen were injured after being called to a domestic dispute at a house in Dovercourt.

The Harwich-based male officers, two constables and an acting sergeant, were allegedly hit with a chair at about 10.30pm yesterday (Thursday).

They all sustained cuts and bruises in the incident but did not need hospital treatment.

The officers had been called to attend a domestic dispute and were allegedly assaulted by a Dovercourt man. CS gas spray was used by the officers during the incident.

A man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and three charges of assaulting a police officer.

He was due to be questioned at Clacton police station today.

The injured officers were due back at work this afternoon.
