Northlands Park continues to produce some excellent carp, topped by a superb fish of 24lb 6oz for lake regular Dave Sugg.

He took the personal best fish from the cafe lake, casting a single prawn to the far reed bed.

Dave's session certainly started spectacularly. His first cast with a ledgered prawn produced a tench within minutes.

When he re-cast to the same spot the big carp snatched his bait as it hit the bottom!

The fish was so big that it gave Dave a few anxious moments, grounding itself in the shallow water as he brought it to the net. Dave finished his session landing four further tench and two bream.

Steve McCann also struck gold at the Northlands Park cafe lake landing a mirror carp of 23lb 8oz.

He tempted the personal best fish with an Activate boilie cast to the reeds.

Double trouble for Louise

Canvey angler Louise Stockwell is making a name for herself at Gloucester Park, having had her rod dragged in twice in consecutive sessions!

The first took place at tench point where her rod was dragged in by a big tench, before both her rod and the fish were retrieved. A week later she was fishing the cockle bank when once again her rod was dragged in. This time the fish was obviously much bigger.

Bailiff Chris Cox cast a pike lure over the rod and retrieved it. However, during the operation the big carp that was towing it round broke free.

Louise's father Eric also had reason to remember the session. After waiting 36 years to catch a barbel he caught three on the trot.

The father and daughter duo also landed a large net of roach, tench, carp and perch.

Eleven-year-old Ashley Payne will never forget his first ever fishing trip, after landing a double-figure carp!

Ashley fished the Gloucester Park incoming sluice to take the 10lb common on ledgered sweetcorn.

Daniel's haul

Billericay's Lake Meadows is also producing some excellent carp, with a fish of 22lb 2oz for Gary Daniels.

Gary fished the houses bank where he took the personal best fish just feet out from the near bank. It fell to a homemade whisky boilie presented over a bed of sweetcorn.

Howard's way lands hefty haul

Gloucester Park regular Stan Howard has taken an amazing 126lb haul from the venue's canal stretch.

Stan picked a swim half way down the canal stretch where he fished a pole and sweetcorn to take his tremendous mixed bag.

The catch consisted of carp, tench, big roach and crucians. His seven carp were each weighed and returned immediately. The carp totalled 53lb, with the best one scaling 11lb 8oz.

Stan also netted 22lb 8oz of big roach, while a second keepnet held four crucians and dozens of tench for a further 50lb 8oz!

Pole angler Terry Edwards took a win in the first of the Gloucester Park three-hour evening matches with a 23lb 4oz mixed haul.

Terry fished the eastern end of the big bay to land 19lb 6oz of carp and tench, plus a further 3lb 12oz of roach. All of his fish fell to trout pellet.

Second place went to Carr and Borley groundbaits squad member Jim Bance with 21lb 3oz.

Jim's best carp weighed 7lb 1oz. Norman Kenward took third place with three tench and a carp for 15lb 10oz.

Pleasure angler Terry Heather enjoyed two hectic sessions in less than a week at Gloucester Park.

His first visit saw him net a 55lb mixed bag from the eastern end of the island. The following trip was spent on the cockle bank where he landed an amazing 19 barbel, plus two big carp, and a net of tench, bream and roach.

John Pottle and son Danny took a tremendous haul of quality carp when they fished the Gloucester Park big bay.

Their first two and a half hours was particularly hectic with John landing carp of 18lb and 16lb.

During the same period 12-year-old Danny netted three double-figure carp to a best of 12lb. They also lost several big fish.

The rest of their session continued to be as successful. Danny did particularly well landing further carp of 15lb, 14lb, 13lb, and 11lb 8oz, as well as four smaller specimens!

The two anglers used Formula One boilies.

John Reynolds targeted the Gloucester Park carp to take 15 fish in a single session.

John fished the cockle bank using whisky boilies to include a number of double-figure specimens in his haul.
