Despite the heavens opening at just the wrong time, The Dons junior soccer club scored a hit with their open day at Belfairs High School, Leigh
Secretary Simon Thorsian said: "The showery weather didn't help, but we did have some new boys and girls of all ages coming along.
"We also had numerous telephones inquiries following the preview piece about our open day which was featured in Echosport last Friday.
"The parents present at the open day commented on the high standard of training and also the marvellous facilities available on the fields at Belfairs."
Free drinks were issued to all and, for the remaining Saturdays of July and throughout August, the Dons will have training for new boys (aged seven to 13) and girls (seven to ten) at Belfairs from 9.30am to 11.30am. There is no charge.
Dons are on the lookout for a goalkeeper for one of their top teams, the under-13 (year eight) Premier Division side. Any inquiries should be made to 01702 301830 or 432069.
