Another Essex batting collapse handed Hampshire victory in yesterday's one-day National League clash at Southchurch Park, Southend.
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat first, and Zimbabwean opener Neil Johnson repaid his captain's faith with an unbeaten 105 as the visitors posted a challenging total of 213, losing only six wickets on the way.
Essex's reply never got going, as they lost three wickets for just 14 runs. Paul Grayson top-scored with 44 but Essex came up 85 runs short, all out in less than 40 overs for 128 runs.
Hampshire's victory avenged their defeat at the hands of Essex back in June.
