Work to create a nursing home in Pitsea has been delayed, developers have revealed.
Diggers and builders were expected to move on to the site of an old petrol station, in Rectory Road, some time this month but that now looks unlikely.
A hotline set up to offer answers to concerned residents has now been closed down after just a handful of calls were made.
A spokeswoman for Moat Housing Group, the company behind the controversial development, said the lack of queries received on the line reassured the group the uproar had calmed down.
Bosses reassured residents the home, which will take adults with mental and physical disabilities from Runwell Hospital, will not be turned into a secure unit.
The concerns were over the suitability of the site, which is surrounded by family houses and schools. The 12 patients are due to move from Runwell as part of its closure later this year.
