Chelmsford's CCTV surveillance systems are to get a boost with a £37,000 injection from the borough council.
This will pay for new schemes at Meadgate Avenue, Melbourne Avenue, Kings Road and Trent Road.
The sites were selected following a survey by the council, which, working with Essex Police, highlighted priority locations.
The survey followed an unsuccessful bid to the Home Office for more ambitious schemes in these areas. The council's executive member for housing and welfare, Cllr Margaret Hutchon, said, "I am delighted that funding has been made available for these new CCTV schemes, in response to requests from people living in these areas, reinforced by our own investigations with the police."
