Players, officials and supporters joined forces at Park Lane on Saturday to pay tribute to one of Canvey Island Football Club's greatest fans.
"Mad Al" Jenkins, who covered his Link Road home with posters, pictures and banners of his heroes prior to May's FA Umbro Trophy final success, died the previous weekend at the age of 54.
Before the start of the Islanders' first pre-season friendly against Crawley Town, a minute's silence was held and club secretary Frances Roche paid tribute to "Mad Al's" fanatical support.
A large turnout of officials, players and fans is expected at Basildon Crematorium tomorrow (Wednesday).
