Stuart Law's future with Essex County Cricket Club has yet to be resolved following his widely-publicised verbal onslaught against county officials.

"All I can say is that we, at the request of Stuart, are in discussions with his agent," explained the county's chief executive David East.

"At the moment we are waiting for a response following a recent meeting."

That confirms Essex are anxious for Law to remain but fuels speculation he may need a two-year contract and a salary increase before he signs for next summer.

Other counties are monitoring the situation.
