Police have issued a fresh warning about conmen after elderly women - three in their 90s - were victims.

A bogus electricity board worker talked his way into the house of a 68-year-old woman in Baxter Avenue, Southend but was asked to leave before he had could steal anything.

He was white, clean shaven, in his 40s, and around 5ft 6ins tall with brushed back grey hair.

A bogus electricity worker was let into a flat in Eastwood by a 94-year-old woman. He stole £120 from a purse in the flat, in Rothwell Close. He was aged between 50 and 55 and 6ft 2ins tall.

A 93-year-old woman in Eastwood Road, Leigh, was the victim of a bogus social security worker. She discovered a man in her lounge who had walked in while she was in the bathroom.He stole £400 cash and £200 jewellery.

He was in his 40s, around 5ft 10ins tall with dark hair.
