A grieving father told how no prison sentence would help him get over the death of his son in a hit-and-run tragedy.
Tony Shoulder, of Devereux Way, Billericay, was speaking after driver Ganzanar Mahmood was jailed for four years for killing 19-year-old Alex by dangerous driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The 45-year-old said: "I expected him to get three years, but it won't make a great deal of difference. At the end of the day it doesn't bring my son back."
Alex was studying media production at University in Buckinghamshire when he was returning from work at around 9pm on the night of January 19 this year.
Mahmood, from Buckinghamshire, was twice over the drink-drive limit and almost twice over the speed limit when he mounted the kerb in High Wycombe.
The 21-year-old driver pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday.
