Police are appealing for witnesses after a man, who has suffered a heart attack and a stroke, was left dazed and bleeding in an unprovoked attack in Basildon.

The 44-year-old registered disabled man from Moss Close, Vange, was sleeping on a recliner in his garden when he was turfed out of it by an unknown assailant.

He fell face down to the floor, but because of his disability, he was unable to break his fall.

He was left with multiple injuries and shock from the attack.

He was later taken to Basildon hospital after his partner took photos of his injuries, before handing them to police. The incident is being treated as a hate crime due to previous attacks on the man.
