The Samaritans are offering support to anyone in the East Tilbury community who has been distressed by the disappearance of 15-year-old schoolgirl Danielle Jones.
The teenager has been missing from her home in Hayle, East Tilbury, since June 18 and police are convinced she has been abducted.
Basildon and Thurrock Samaritans said today that a distressing news story like this could often play on peoples minds.
A spokesman said: "Sometimes when things like this happen it can make some people in the community very distressed. Although it does not directly affect them they become low and then their own problems are brought to the fore.
"We want them to know that we are here for them 24 hours a day if they need us, just a phone call away. Our service is free and completely confidential."
The Samaritans number is 01268 412000.
Meanwhile, Essex Police say they are working through more than 300 calls following the television reconstruction of the disappearance of Danielle.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We are still going through the calls and have completed the majority of them.
"However, we have yet to find a positive lead which can enable us to locate Danielle."
It has also been revealed the mobile phone used by the missing 15-year-old was a Nokia 402 from the Orange network. The phone, which has a purple plastic clip-on cover, is no longer in production. It may also be known as a Orange 6110 mobile phone.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "If anyone finds a phone matching the description we would ask them to please not touch it, but to contact police immediately.
"We need the phone to be left untouched so our scenes of crimes officers can test it.
Anyone with information should contact 01245 452207.
