Youngsters have learnt a life-saving lesson about dangers on the railway at their Wickford school.
The warning to pupils at Hilltop Junior School, in Hill Avenue, came just as lessons are about to break for the summer holiday when crime on the railway soars.
The seven to 11-year-olds were warned of the dangers of playing or trespassing on the railway by Railtrack schools liaison officer Karen Celisse. Records show a high number of incidents of trespassing and vandalism on the railway in and around Wickford.
Karen said: "It is hoped the visits will get the message across and reverse statistics."
