Wivenhoe Town have announced that Frank Thompson has taken up the position of Director of Football at the Ryman League division two club for the forthcoming season.

Thompson has a wealth of experience under his belt including spells at Clacton and Brightlingsea, and has been taken on by chairman Kevin Foskett to bring in frest talent.

Foskett commented: "I'm delighted at the appointment of Frank.

"He has a vast experience of management, and is used to working on a restricted budget.

"I believe he is the best man manager in local football. Our new manager Neil Northcott is untried at this level, but is a brilliant coach, and with Frank's experience of 30 years in local football, they should work well together."
