Brian, 21, of Marine Parade East, Clacton, will be attempting to break the world record for the number of hours spent on an amusement dancing game machine on November 28.
The record currently stands at nine hours and Mr Milton plans to beat the record by dancing for 12 hours.
Mr Milton, a customer account adviser at the Woolwich, said: "I thought it would be a good idea to raise money for charity by doing it for 12 hours."
He said that Magic City, Pier Avenue, where the game is, had agreed to let him have the game machine on free play for the day.
Mr Milton hopes his record-breaking attempt will also raise money for Imperial Cancer Research and the New York disaster fund as well.
He said: "My nan died of cancer, my brother-in-law had a brain tumour and other relatives on my mother's side also suffered from cancer, and I was so upset by what I saw on television happening in New York that I decided to help.
