Squad players are set to feature for Braintree tonight - but that isn't to say boss Ben Embery is taking the competition lightly.

The Iron are set to field a number of changes because several first-team players are unavailable.

Defender Andy Potter is unavailable, while there is a question mark over Steven Blaney's availability for the Essex Senior Cup as the midfielder was at Aveley earlier this season.

New signing Dave Kreyling, who arrived yesterday from Ryman League premier division rivals Heybridge Swifts, is definitely cup-tied while keeper Paul Catley is still struggling with a groin injury. Simon Morden is set to deputise.

It gives the chance to players like Brett Girling, Bradley Quinton and Mark Jones who lost their places in the side after suffering injuries recently.

Embery said: "We like to win every game but this is a chance to give other players the chance to show what they can do. I still would like to go as far as possible in the competition but it is not one of my main priorities.

"We have a few injuries as well and I'm not risking anyone who might be struggling with a knock."

Also, several representatives from North Ferriby United - the Yorkshire team who Braintree have drawn to play in the next round of the FA Umbro Trophy - are expected to be at Cressing Road tonight.

But Embery added: "I think the side we field against Purfleet will be very different to the one we put out in the FA Trophy. I'm not sure how much they can really learn from us in this match."
