A woman came face to face with an unknown man after looking out of her window in the middle of the night.
The householder heard a garden gate being opened at her home in King Stephen Road, Colchester, at about 2.50am on Wednesday and went downstairs to find out who it was.
She looked out through her kitchen window and saw an unknown man, who then fled.
