The retiring High Sheriff of Essex, George Courtauld, had a chance to see some of the interesting spots around the Rochford area, when he was a guest of the district council.
Mr Courtauld had wanted to visit the area during his term of office and the trip gave him the opportunity to visit the district, tour places of interest and look at some of the council's facilities as well as meeting staff.
During the trip, they toured Foulness Island and visited Holy Trinity Church at Rayleigh, where the chairman's chaplain the Rev David Parrott was on hand to give information about the historic parish church.
There was also a visit to Mill Hall in Bellingham Lane, Rayleigh.
