A teenager has appeared in court after kicking a man during a fight.
Police were called to Pier Avenue, Clacton, at 2.45am on December 16, Colchester Court heard.
Gerald Isted, prosecuting, said: "There was a disturbance, which involved two groups. Police officers were called and they separated them and they went their separate ways."
He said the police left the scene but returned and punches were being thrown. Lee Smith, 18, of St John's Road, Clacton, admitted using threatening behaviour during the fight.
Mr Isted told the court that Smith was part of a group of four who had been spoken to originally. He said Smith was seen by a police officer to kick another man.
Smith admitted to the court he was drunk at the time of the incident.
Paul Baker, mitigating, told the court that Smith accepted he must be punished for his actions.
Smith, who works as a driver for a private company, was given a community punishment order for 100 hours.
