Major local action on a big night on the non-league soccer scene comes at Burroughs Park where Great Wakering Rovers will be aiming to throw a spanner in the Ryman League Second Division title hopes of Lewes.

The visitors took over as championship favourites last week with a win at leaders Horsham and, currently second, trail their Sussex partners by four points with two games in hand.

Wakering themselves, with a major injury crisis wrecking their own hopes of taking the crown over the past month or so, are now down in seventh place.

They are likely to still be well below full strength this evening, but will hope for a major push to boost their fading ambition of ending the season in the top six.

All Canvey eyes in the Premier Division will be on fellow Premier title battlers Gravesend and Northfleet, who will move two points clear of the Islanders if they can beat third from bottom Hampton and Richmond at home tonight.

Both championship-chasers will have three games apiece to play after this evening.

Grays will go clear in third spot -- three points clear of Thurrock rivals Purfleet with both having four to play -- if they can win at Hendon.
