A Shoebury pub is set for a £350,000 facelift.
Whitbread Restaurants is investing the money to transform the Shorehouse Brewers Fayre, in Ness Road, into a Brewsters family restaurant.
The development will include a state-of-the-art Fun Factory - an adventure play area for children - and a new family supervision area, where parents will be able to watch their children playing while they have a drink or meal.
The current bar and restaurant will remain open throughout the development, which is due to be finished in time for a grand opening on April 19.
A spokesman for Whitbread Restaurants said: "The development will retain all that is best about the pub restaurant - great value for money, great food and drink and the warmest of welcomes - and transform it into a real family dining experience that is great fun for both children and grown-ups."
Special features will include an innovative security system designed to keep tags on children, including Parentcam CCTV and electronically-tagged children's aprons.
