Bowls: Tully destroys county hopes

Essex County Bowls Club were narrowly edged out in the county triples finals at the President's St Chads club.

The side lost 21-17 to Havering's Liberty Club after a tremendous battle went down to the final end.

The teams were all square on the fifth, but Liberty edged ahead with a four on the 14th to lead 19-10.

Essex County immediately bounced back with a count of five to narrow the gap to four shots, but Liberty responded with two shots on the next to lead 21-15.

Going into the final end the margin was six shots and Essex County laid that amount before John Tulley nudged in a Liberty bowl to get a saving second wood.
