A Shoebury man has died of a heart attack after hitting his head diving into a popular swimming lake.
The 47-year-old dived into the lake in Maldon's Promenade Park.
He surfaced, complaining of having hit his head on the bottom and went into cardiac arrest. He died in Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.
The lake was drained and police said he may have hit his head on a submerged post.
