Rayleigh: Cabbies ready for more action

Furious cabbies today refused to rule out further industrial action after councillors lifted limits on the number of taxi drivers in Rayleigh.

Rochford District Council's taxi licensing sub-committee took the first step towards deregulation of taxis, opening up the area to free trade.

Drivers fear that this will encourage hundreds more taxis into the trade, making it impossible for them to make a living.
