Thousands of pounds has poured in to fight Government proposals to put up to three extra runways at Stansted Airport.
The Stop Stansted Expansion (SSE) campaign, an offshoot of airport watchdog the North West Essex and East Herts Preservation Association (NWEEHPA), was formed to fight the plans to turn Stansted into one of the world's largest airports and chairman Norman Mead said cash was arriving in the postbag each day to fund the fight.
"Several thousands have already been donated," he said adding there had also been a great surge in membership of NWEEHPA further boosting funds.
SSE will be challenging the government's claim that airport capacity must increase fourfold in the south-east and fight proposals to build extra runways on the basis it will destroy hundreds of peoples' homes and severely impact on the quality of life and health of thousands more.
