The identity of a man found by children in a Basildon wood is still being withheld by police until next of kin have been traced.

The man - whom Essex Police will only describe as local - was found by a group of six youngsters in a copse at the junction of Broadmayne and Church Road, Basildon, just before 5pm on Tuesday.

A post mortem examination will shortly take place.
