Travellers who have been plaguing police in south Essex were today believed to have set up camp in Billericay.
It is thought the group split up and set off in different directions after officers spent eight hours chasing them from one site to another on Tuesday afternoon.

Police and Southend Council moved in to evict the trespassers and the travellers moved on, but broke in to smaller groups and have been seen on land opposite Billericay police station, adjacent to London Road.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "We are aware of the problem in Southend and it is very likely that the group in Billericay are a part of that original group."
It is not yet clear who owns the land or what action will be taken to move the caravans.
