Two of Basildon's outstanding cadets collected further honours when they featured in the Sir Henry Cotton Perpetual Trophy at Canons Brook, Harlow.

In-form Essex champion Danny Brooks won the scratch prize and Ben Tobin the gross award.

Two-handicapper Brooks scored 75 and 73 on the par 73 course to finish five shots clear of second-placed club colleague Tobin.

The latter won the Daily Telegraph Nortel Club Trophy with his gross 72.

There is now understandably great interest at Basildon regarding Sunday's club championship.
