Braintree Council has objected to an application for an extra temporary classroom at a Great Notley primary school.
Essex County Council wants to put another relocatable classroom at Notley Green Primary School, Blickley Road, Great Notley, where there are already two, for a year.
But Braintree Council has objected, saying another temporary classroom is out of character with the high-quality design of the school and the Great Notley development.
The county council's plan needs the classroom to accommodate children while a permanent extension is built.
A report for the county development and regulation committee said rapid housing development in the school catchment area increased demand for places. The short-term solution had been to use temporary classrooms.
Committee members will vote on the application today.
