A second exam mix-up has struck a Colchester school.
Just a month after 200 SATs exam papers were found to be missing three months after being sent to markers, the Gilberd School has been left waiting for GCSE results for six pupils.
It means the pupils affected did not get the results for certain subjects when their classmates did.
Mike Arnott, assistant head teacher at the Brinkley Lane school, said the problem came to light a day before the results were due out when staff discovered a message from exam body AQ telling them six of the pupils, all entered for science and English, and two for dance, were found to have been withdrawn from the exams.
Mr Arnott said: "We were left confused because we did not withdraw them.
"The exam board said did we want them to mark the pupils anyway because they had sat the exams and entered the course work, which, of course, we want them to do. But it means the pupils involved will have to wait to get their results."
A spokesman for AQA said as far as it was concerned, when the school made modifications to its entrants in March, the six students had been withdrawn from the subjects involved.
"We are not in the business of blaming but that is basically what our records show."
