Canvey Island soccer boss Jeff King has appealed to the club's "Yellow Army" of fans to muster strong vocal support for the team to help lift them from their early season slump.
Gulls have uncharacteristically lost their first two Ryman Premier games of the season and go into a busy Bank Holiday weekend at the bottom of the table.
King said: "We've had some fabulous times here over recent years and no-one connected with them will ever forget our tremendous FA Trophy success and great FA Cup triumphs in the past two seasons.
"What we badly need from the fans now is for them to get behind us in big numbers and make as much noise as possible in support of the team. They can play a tremendous part in lifting things when they don't go as planned."
The absence of three regular members of the success story cast -- honeymooning goalkeeper Ashley Harrison, defender Steve Ward (holiday) and suspended wing-back Chris Duffy -- has been a heavy blow and all should be back following tomorrow's home clash with a Hitchin side who have caused the Islanders problems in the past.
Canvey also face a difficult Monday trip (3pm) to a Basingstoke outfit who will undoubtedly be lifted by the midweek shock 3-0 success at local rivals Aldershot.
