Commuters were today reeling from 24 hours of chaos after a train tore down more than three miles of power lines on the c2c line from south Essex to London.
Thousands of people endured hours of delays today following a nightmare journey home in last night's rush hour.

Hundreds of City workers were left milling around at Pitsea rail station after trains on the c2c line between the town and Benfleet were cancelled last night.
Buses were laid on to ferry them between Pitsea and Benfleet - but some were left to walk between the two stations along the A13, claiming there were not enough buses.
Today, the problem had still not been solved and buses were again taking London-bound commuters as far as Pitsea to catch their trains into Fenchurch Street.
Graham Bashford, a spokesman for c2c, said: "We very much regret the inconvenience this has caused.
"We want to assure customers we are doing the best we can to get things done as quickly as possible."
