Great Wakering Rebels youngster Rhys Naylor did the cycle speedway club proud with an excellent race at the East Anglian Grand Prix.
Competing at Eaton, near Norwich, the nine-year-old claimed second place in the under-10s B final.
And with a good tally of points under his belt, Rhys will now go on to the next round of races, at King's Lynn in October, full of confidence that he can remain at the top of the pack.
On Sunday, the Rebels lost 107-73 at home to Norfolk-based team Hethersett.
The match was much closer than the final score suggests and comeback rider, veteran Eric Hemsley, scored ten points.
However, man of the match was Scot Buchan, who claimed 13 points for the village side.
