Residents in Jaywick are getting all revved up over cars blocking the entrance to their homes and have demanded urgent measures to tackle the problem.

People living in Garden Road are finding it hard to park anywhere near where they live or gain access to their driveways

One elderly woman could not get her car out when she needed to get to an urgent hospital appointment.

Residents have now signed a petition calling for action to be taken to solve the problem.

They have taken the issue up with their Tendring district and Essex county councillor Roy Smith in the hopes he can help.

"This situation has occured since the road was recently resurfaced," said Mr Smith.

"The residents were obviously delighted that the state of the carriageway has been improved.

"But the problem is that road markings to designate parking areas have not been reinstated."

Mike Page, public relations manager for Tendring Council, said the residents' petition, like all others received by the council, would be considered on its merits.

However, since the resurfacing work was carried out the lines have only been replaced in the areas where they are required under current regulations.
