A penalty at Layer Road saw visitors Brentford take all three points in the match on Saturday.

Young defender Danny Steele, on for the injured Mark Warren, was judged by referee Paul Taylor to have fouled Mark McCammon in the area.

Stephen Hunt converted the spot kick to give Brentford the lead which they did not relinquish despite efforts from the U's to get back on equal terms.

The U's strike force were unable to find their mark with Adrian Coote replacing Scott McGleish up front as manager Steve Whitton rotated his strikers.

Dean Morgan and substitute Lloyd Opara gave Bees keeper Paul Smith the chance to earn his money as both managed shots on target.

But the Bees were not prepared to let their fourth consecutive clean sheet slip from their grasp and held out in the second half to take the win.
