An initiative which aims to take the hard work out of networking has been devised by Essex Chambers of Commerce.

The 'Buddy' scheme has been developed for new or shy members to ensure that they are not left on their own at networking events.

Membership managers are always on hand to look after people and introduce them to other members, helping them widen their networking circle and make the event a less daunting prospect.

Chamber Chief Executive David Crozier said: "We are constantly looking at ways to improve our services. By contacting our membership managers in advance, we can ensure they are on hand to make a newcomer feel welcome."

Anyone interested in finding more about the buddy scheme should contact David Kent, Colchester office 01206 765277; David Clark, Chelmsford office 01245 241432; Ron Price, Southend office 01702 716000. Richard Kemsley can be contacted on 01206 852700.
