A seaside resort has once again been the focus of television cameras.

Thames Television has been in Frinton since Friday filming Wish You Were Here for a series on alternative holiday destinations in the UK.

Residents and holidaymakers in the town were surprised to see a former Neighbours star, Mark Little, who played Joe Mangle in the Australian soap, wandering around the town and drinking in the pub.

Mark Little, who is also a comedian, is presenting the programme for ITV, and enjoyed a little of what the town has to offer.

As well as filming at the beach, the crew had a barbecue and frequented the Lock and Barrel in Connaught Avenue. They took the chance to interview the pub owners over its fame as being the last town in the country to get a pub.

Terry Hudson, joint pub manager, said: "They were really pleasant people. They dined here three of four times and came here for drinks."

Mark Little said: "We've had a great time in Frinton. It's unique. The beach reminds me of an Australian beach because all you can do is swim and lie on the beach because there's no where close to buy anything."

The programme will be screened early next year.
