Evening fishermen have been reaping the benefits at Rochford's Doggetts Lake.
Steve Campion went without a bite as he fished on during the hot daytime weather, but during the early hours his luck changed dramatically.
Using a float fished worm bait, Steve produced an excellent haul of bream to 4lb and tench to 7lb.
The carp anglers were not excluded from long pauses between runs, although Hockley's Billy Martin landed his best ever Doggetts carp from the island swim on the south bank -- a superb 20lb 5oz fully scaled mirror.
