Two Colchester fish and chip shops look set to be cooking up success in a national competition.
The top ten finalists in the regional heat of the Fish and Chip Shop of the Year have now been announced.
And it seems Colchester is spoilt. Fish 'N' Chick 'N', of The Willows, Mersea Road, and Chelsea's Fish Bar, in Queen Elizabeth Way, have both been named among the top ten in the London and the South area.
All ten finalists will now have to wait a further three weeks to see which shops go through to win a place in the top three, with the overall winner in the region going up against seven other UK finalists during Seafood Week, October 4-11.
Each of the shops will now be visited by a mystery shopper, who will check everything from the quality of the food to the cleanliness and friendliness of staff.
